Check status before every booking
A CLOSED field remains unavailable until the next inspection changes its status. A field reservation does not override a closure. The source identifies standing water, frozen or snow-covered surfaces, excessive wear, excessive frost and bad-weather forecasts as closure reasons.
This is a procedure guide, not a frozen copy of a live OPEN/CLOSED board. For example, the reviewed board marked Kalgidhar soccer closed, while many other fields were open. That snapshot is not a prediction for your match date.

How weekday and weekend decisions work
Parks staff inspect during the business week and report daily status before noon. Friday’s pre-noon report governs the entire weekend until the next inspection on the following business day.
A weekend game requires the Friday decision, not an earlier weekday result. Fresh standing water, snow or frost still matters: the city says fields are always closed in those conditions.

School fields and contact route
The status page lists school natural fields booked by the city 5-10 p.m. on weekdays, synthetic fields 6-10 p.m., and weekend bookings 8 a.m.-10 p.m. These are booking-use periods, not unrestricted public entry during school hours.
The separate sports-field page says school rentals are available after 4:30 p.m., so the pages differ. Confirm the booking permit’s time with Parks, Recreation and Culture at 604-859-3134. This guide does not resolve that discrepancy by guessing.
