The current harvest notice changes the old recommendation

The October 2025 thread corrected a key point: Willow View’s pumpkins are no longer in a picking field. The present farm page also says the apple orchard is closed until next year. Go for pumpkins or the market, not a promised apple-picking trip. Supply changes, so the listed varieties are not a reservation.

Read Taves’ weekend terms before leaving

Taves’ FAQ requires online weekend passes and separates picking from activity packages. Its apple page contains older gate-only wording, so use the current FAQ and live ticket screen. Confirm any parking charge for the chosen pass. The benefit is more activities; the cost and advance planning are part of that choice.

The calmer farm is not always the same farm

Willow View and Taves have both been local favourites for years. In October 2021, readers liked Willow View’s family-run feel, market and photo opportunities, while a Taves fan valued having more to do. By October 2023, some still loved Willow View but warned of a long store line and difficult parking; another reader found Taves too busy. A quiet memory is not a promise of a quiet weekend.

The 2025 budget questions made a second distinction clearer. Willow View still had pumpkins to buy, but people corrected repeated claims that it offered the old picking field. That matches the current farm information: pumpkins are in yard displays and the apple orchard is now closed after U-pick finished. This October visit can still give you a pumpkin, cider and a farm-market stop. It should not be sold to children as a field-picking adventure.

Choose the experience before comparing the price

If the main job is choosing a pumpkin, Willow View’s free admission keeps entry separate from what you buy. Its current October hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. If the group wants a larger activity day, Taves has the patch, mazes and pass choices to investigate. A free market visit and an activity package are different purchases, so comparing only the word “admission” can be misleading.

At Taves, use the current FAQ’s online route for weekend passes and read what the chosen pass includes. The apple page has conflicting gate-only wording, so do not arrive relying on that older instruction. Produce and activity entry may be separate charges. For either farm, decide how long the group really wants to stay and what you can comfortably carry home. Older threads also named Wisbey, Greendale and Aldor Acres.
